O Antiphon – 2

O ADONAI AND RULER OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL YOU APPEARED TO MOSES IN THE FIRE OF THE BURNING BUSH AND ON MT. SINAI GAVE HIM YOUR LAW.  COME AND WITH OUTSTRETCHED ARM REDEEM US!

God’s appearance to Moses in the burning bush is all about DELIVERANCE.  Since the days of Abraham, his people have been in a long and hard ~ shall we say “formation program!”  We learn so much from what happened to the Israelites in their journey.  Each of our lives ~ from our beginning, middle and end take the same journey.  That is our election when God created us and which is constantly being renewed; our “captivities” through forces beyond us or invited  by faulty decisions ~ which in turn brings about our perpetual need for deliverence.  And so the cycle goes. As with the Israelites, who were slaves in a foreign land, each one of us cries out to be delivered from our own bondage.

The “Good News” which was promised to us in Eden has pulsed throughout the ages.  Each renewal of that Promise becomes a signpost to that ultimate “Deliverence” who appeared not in a bush aflame, or smoking mountain or even a great Sea parting to make way for the redeemed captives.  No, rather we see our Savior as a newborn baby placed in a manger.  And can we not picture him inviting us with his little outstretched arms?  Yeshua Ha’Mashiach!
