Promises Remembered – 4

The purpose of following the story of Abraham is not to concentrate on his travel itinerary, but rather to keep it in the context of his “Call” which God is revealing bit by bit. It is pointing to and culminating in the fulfillment of that first promise in Eden regarding the “Offspring of the woman.” [Gen. 3: 15] We are coming near the commemoration of HIs birth in Bethlehem.  This is where the Great Circle of Love begins its upward “turn towards the Father.”  This is the day the Lord has made ~ let us rejoice and be glad!

“The LORD  said to Abram after Lot had parted company with him,  ‘Look all around from where you are towards the north and the south, towards the east and the west.  All the land within sight I will give to you and all your descendants for ever.  I will make your descendents like the dust on the ground: when men suceed in counting the specks of dust on the ground, then they will be able to count your descendants!  Come travel through the length and breadth of the land, for I mean to give it to you.’ So Abram went with his tents to settle at the Oak of Mamre, at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD.” Gen. 13:14-18
